what are the cost per cc, operating costs, maintance/service costs etc with sls machines. any disadvantages with them.

The costs vary depnding on the manufacturer and the materials that they use to run their machines. May I suggest that you take a look at the 3D systems range of machines as I am pretty sure they are arguably the most cost efficient on the market today.
