Utilizing the five SLA machines from 3D Systems gives Metro RP the diversity our customer's need and expect. We have grown parts as small as a pencil eraser to parts as large as a golf car body. Parts out of the build envelope size of our larger machines (20" x 20" x 23") is not an issue and built on a regular basis. An extra step is involved by bonding the multiple pieces together. This process uses an ultraviolet (UV) pen light and the same resin in which the part was grown from. The resin is used much in the same way as glue but when cured using the pen light, is the same strength as the rest of the part. This technique allows Metro RP to build larger parts in sections and the end result will be an SL model of the part size you need instead of scaling down.
Metro's knowledge and capability also allows us to produce not just small, intricate urethane castings, or durable prototypes, but also very large castings. To our knowledge, we have one of the largest pressure tanks in the Midwest. We can produce urethane castings up to six (6) feet in length and four (4) feet wide.
