Rapid Prototyping Samples - SLS (Selective Laser Sintering)

SLS (Selective Laser Sintering)

Metro Rapid Prototyping now has the capability of providing superior quality SLS parts for an added value to our customers! Selective Laser Sintering allows for closer resemblance of production intent material.

Ideal for parts with trapped volumes.

The SLS process is somewhat similar to the stereolithography process but differs by using powder materials instead of a liquid resin. SLS lasers will actually 'fuse' the powder together unlike SLA using the laser to 'cure' the resin with UV light.

Glass Filled Nylon material. Parts can be produced up to 28" x 23" x 15" per machine platform size, with an excellent tolerance capability of +/- 0.004" although a 0.040" wall thickness is required.

This glass filled nylon material has a heat deflection of 320oF and easily withstands high mechanical and thermal loading. See Data Sheet.

Secondary infiltration process available to make the SLS part water, fuel, air, and oil resistant. This impregnation process fills the pores in the material without adding geometry to your part.

Typical lead time is 5 to 9 business days, depending on the size and quantity of part(s).
